Providing a Comfortable Transition for Elderly Parents in Johor’s Assisted Living Community

Sisters Angela Lim and Rebecca Lim, both restaurant workers in Singapore, were exploring
options to ensure the best care for their aging mother, Madam Lim. At 78 years old, Madam Lim
was experiencing mobility challenges and required a supportive environment where her daily
needs are met well.

Angela and Rebecca’s demanding work schedules made it challenging to provide the constant
care their mother needed. After researching various options, the sisters decided to explore
assisted living facilities in Johor, which offered quality care at a more affordable cost or ⅓ that of
Singapore. Additionally, the Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) program presented an
opportunity for them to secure retirement options for themselves.

EBS guided Angela and Rebecca on applying for MM2H program, which over time will prove to
be the least cost option for their mother to stay in Malaysia, and less hassle as it only needs to
be renewed every 5 years.

Mdm Lim now lives a richer life. She participates in group activities such as art classes, and
benefits from a structured routine that supports her overall well-being.

Angela and Rebecca visit her every two weeks and feel a sense of relief knowing she is in
capable hands. The proximity to Singapore and the benefits of the MM2H program have allowed
them to do their work with mental peace. With the new RTS, things will be even easier.
